Inter Miami led twice, but Atlanta United had an answer both times. Breel Embolo’s 87th-minute penalty secured a 2–2 draw at Nu Stadium on Saturday, September 5, bringing Atlanta level after Luis Suárez had put Miami ahead before the interval.
Casemiro opened the scoring in the 32nd minute. Three minutes later, Miguel Almirón equalised for Atlanta. Suárez then restored Miami’s advantage in first-half added time, with his goal recorded at 45+1.
That lead lasted until Embolo converted from the penalty spot. His late equaliser meant neither side left with a win, despite Miami having held the advantage on two occasions.
The scoring sequence gives the result its tension: a quick reply to Miami’s opener, another home goal before the break, and an Atlanta response with the match approaching its end. For Miami, the second lead was not enough. For Atlanta, the final goal turned another spell behind into a draw.
Miami’s official match centre lists the match as final and confirms the four scorers and their goal times.
